Part Time Maintenance Tech.

Description:Norwood Crossing is seeking a Maintenance Tech. Part Time (8am-12 PM) to join our team. Hours and days of week could vary depending on needs of business.

We are nestled in a historic district called Norwood Park on Chicago’s North side. We are 117 year old organization that is in the initial stages of building the most resident and employee focused, state-of the-art facility in the area.

We provide high quality care through individualized service plans; extensive activities programming that promotes socialization, and clean environment for both residents and employees. To accomplish this, each staff member must always deliver the highest level of customer service and team work.

Duties:• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking lot etc., by cutting, trimming policing, sweeping, snow removal, and performing general maintenance to all areas.
• Make repairs to equipment and facility/buildings to include plumbing, plastering, painting, electrical, carpentry and any mechanical as appropriate.
• Service HVAC units and systems as appropriate.
• Replace light bulbs and fixtures as requested and necessary.
• Maintain assigned equipment for repair and to be kept in maximum operating condition.
• In case of fire or disaster perform duties as assigned.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as needed.
• Assists in cleaning of emergency spills as observed or requested.
• Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and have repairs made when needed.
• Observes and report the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
• Observes and practices all safety standards and protocols as set forth by manufacturers, the department(s), Safety committee, and the facility as appropriate.
• Performs any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
• Ability (after brief training period) to demonstrate proper use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job of lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, reaching and Bending; I.E., Carry supplies, operating equipment, Climbing ladders, scaffold, poles etc.
• Responding to maintenance request.
• Documenting safety issues as well physical plan deficiencies related to Local, County, State and Federal guidelines.
• Responding appropriately to management and/or community emergencies by assisting as needed.
• Experience with heating and air conditioning, boiler and water systems, washers, dryers, emergency power generators and other basic, physical plant and equipment items.
• Understand of principles of preventive maintenance
• Conduct and document inspection of fire control systems: conduct monthly fire drills.
• Performs any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:• Ability to pass the pre-employment and annual physical examinations.
• Must qualify for company insurance: Pass DMV check.
• Ability (after brief training period) to demonstrate proper use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job of stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pump, tools, and ladders) and ability to safely install rigging.
• May be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shift,
• May be required to work extended periods of time when responding to priority/emergency situations (include overtime type assignments) may require shift work and/or on call duties.


• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• HVAC Certification a plus
• Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English
• Must demonstrate the correct use of chemicals, supplies, and tools required to perform job duties.
• Must be a team player
• Must have flexibility with schedule and overtime
• Must enjoy working with the senior population
